The terms governing your use of The Gr!dline. There is not much to them.
By using thegridlinemedia.com you agree to what follows. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. These terms are between you and The Gr!dline, an independent publication.
What the site is
A free publication covering African technology, startups, fintech and infrastructure, culture, and emerging technology. There are no accounts, no paid membership, and no payments. Nothing here is behind a paywall, and nothing asks you to buy anything. Where a page refers to future membership, it is describing an intention, not an offer.
Our content
Original Gr!dline reporting, and the design of this site, belong to us. You are welcome to quote us and link to us — that is what publishing is for. Please do not republish whole articles, and please attribute what you quote and link back to the original.
Photographs are licensed from third parties under Creative Commons or public-domain terms and are credited individually on our Credits & Sources page. Those images carry their own licences, which travel with the image rather than with us — check the credit before reusing one.
Headlines from other publishers
Parts of this site — The Pulse and the wire — carry headlines aggregated from other outlets' public RSS feeds. For those items we publish the headline, the outlet's name, and a link to the original. We never republish full text, never remove a publisher's credit, and never present another outlet's reporting as our own. Every aggregated headline links back to the publisher that reported it.
If you are a publisher and you would rather we did not carry your headlines, email hello@thegridlinemedia.com and we will remove your outlet from our feed list. We will not ask you to justify it. The same address works for any copyright or takedown concern, and we will respond promptly.
Market data
The markets ribbon shows delayed data fetched from named third-party sources, each credited on Credits & Sources and stamped with the time its source attributes to it. It is published for general information and is not investment advice, not a live feed, and not suitable for trading decisions. We remove a value rather than show it stale, but we cannot guarantee the accuracy of data we did not produce.
What we do not promise
We work hard to get things right, and we correct mistakes when we find them or when you tell us about them — our approach is set out on our editorial standards page. But the site is provided as it is. We do not guarantee it will always be available, that every link will work, or that every figure will be current. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from your use of the site or from anything you relied on here.
Links to other sites are just links. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for what they publish or do.
Using the site fairly
Please do not attempt to break, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the site or its systems, and please do not scrape it at a volume that degrades it for other readers. Reasonable, well-behaved crawling is fine — we do the same thing ourselves, and we try to be a good guest about it.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms as the site changes; the effective date below will change with them. These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
